Explanation on Abortion Procedure

Method

Surgical abortion, also known as suction aspiration abortion, can be performed in a half-day procedure.

I can not speak Japanese.

The doctor can speak English fluently and French well. The clerks can. The nurses have limited fluency.

When can I undergo an abortion procedure?

Once we observe the gestational sac larger than 10 mm, you can schedule the procedure.

What tests do I need to do?

To screen for the infectious diseases, you need to undergo a blood test. In case you are infected with HIV, Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C, or syphilis, we decline to perform the procedure. If you are suffering from severe anemia or organ dysfunction, we decline as well.

I have already done the test for the infectious diseases (same as above). Do I still need to undergo the blood test here?

It depends. The purpose of doing a blood test here is to screen for big abnormalities.
Another important purpose is to use the result sheet (in paper; in Japanese) so that we can submit to a hospital in case of emergency. Although we have not experienced such a case, if you are bleeding too much after an abortion procedure, we may have to refer you to a hospital.
Thus, if you have the test results (within one month of your visit) in Japanese, we can use them instead.

When can I schedule anabortion procedure?

A procedure is performed between 9:30 am and 12:30 pm or between 3:00 pm and 4:00 pm depending on room availability.

Can I undergo an abortion procedure on the first visit?

Yes. To realize it, you are advised to provide us with enough information, preferably by email. Then we can explain more.

As some patients do not show up without a notice, we may ask you to pay the non-refundable deposit of 55,000 yen by bank transfer.

I wish to know the details of the procedure.

  • You have an IV placed.
  • The doctor administers medicine intraveneously for conscious sedation (extra fee).
  • The doctor perfoms local anesthesia by injecting anesthetics into your cervix of the uterus (neck of the womb).
  • The doctor removes the uterine content by means of manual vacuum aspiration. This procedure itself takes only 5-10 minutes. The tool is disposable and sterilized.
  • After ultrasonography, you move to the recovery area. It takes 30-60 minutes.

    • Can I accompany my male partner (boyfriend, husband, etc.)?

    Here, we allow male accompanist as well as female accompanist. S/he can go in the consultation room and the examination room.

    Fee

  • Up to 8 weeks of pregnancy: from 121,000 yen
  • at 9 weeks of pregnancy: from 143,000 yen
  • at 10 weeks of pregnancy: from 154,0000 yen
  • at 11 weeks of pregnancy: 165,000 yen

    • including the fee for the follow-up visit, usually done a week after the procedure.
    If you pay with your credit card, we add 5% as credit card handling fee.
    Thus, we recommend that you pay in cash.

    Additional Fees

    -33,000 yen if the procedure is done on Saturday
    -22,000 yen if the procedure is done in the first visit
    -if the procedure is done with intraveneous sedation
    -33,000 yen if your blood type is Rh (-) and require an injection of immunoglobulin
